KathyDan Moore is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Clinical Director of KDM Counseling Group, and a highly experienced clinical supervisor with over 20 years in the field. KathyDan founded KDM Counseling Group out of her passion for clinical supervision and mentoring other clinicians, guiding them to build their skills and careers while providing top-tier, trauma-informed care to clients.
KathyDan specializes in couples and family therapy, with particular expertise in treating trauma, relationship issues, anxiety, depression, grief, and life transitions. She has a strong focus on supporting individuals and families navigating the complexities of divorce, blended families, joint custody, and parenting. She also has a deep commitment to helping clients process complex grief and cope with serious illness, offering compassionate support for those experiencing loss and end-of-life transitions. Her areas of expertise also include working with teens (12+), clients navigating LGBTQIA+ concerns, and those recovering from affairs or breakups.
Throughout her career, KathyDan has worked in a variety of therapeutic settings, including clinics, schools, non-profit organizations, private practice, and as a Clinical Director at a community mental health facility. This diverse experience has shaped her integrative, client-centered approach to therapy, which blends compassion, humor, optimism, and a collaborative mindset. She utilizes a variety of therapeutic techniques, including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Gottman Method Couples Therapy, to help clients process trauma, resolve distressing experiences, and create lasting change.
As a wife and mother of two children and four bonus children, KathyDan has a deep understanding of the challenges that come with balancing family life, personal growth, and professional success. This personal insight fuels her dedication to helping clients regain control of their lives, navigate difficult transitions, and thrive in the face of adversity.
KathyDan holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Tulane University and a master’s degree in clinical psychology with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy from Antioch University in Los Angeles. Before transitioning into therapy and founding KDM Counseling Group in St. Petersburg, she worked in marketing and television production. KathyDan is committed to ongoing professional development to ensure she offers the highest quality care to her clients.
