Katie Yardy, a Florida native and Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern, is passionate about guiding individuals and couples toward meaningful change, healing, and self-discovery. Her approach is rooted in self-compassion, mindfulness, and a deep commitment to helping clients find peace and balance in their lives.
Katie earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of South Florida, where she also contributed as a health psychology research assistant. After graduation, she worked in community mental health in rural North Florida, supporting underserved psychiatric populations. She later returned to USF to complete a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling, specializing in Marriage and Family Therapy.
Her professional journey has included roles as a Child Safety Case Manager, where she supported families in crisis, and as a therapist in a private practice setting, working with teens, adults, and couples. Katie has extensive experience addressing issues such as ADHD, anxiety, trauma, chronic pain, and life transitions. Her background also includes working in Human Resources across corporate, startup, and nonprofit sectors, giving her valuable insight into workplace challenges and work-life balance.
Katie’s therapeutic style is grounded in empathy and unconditional positive regard. She utilizes person-centered and emotion-focused approaches to help clients uncover the root causes of their challenges and build healthier ways of engaging with the world. Mindfulness and mind-body practices are central to her work, empowering clients to reconnect with themselves and navigate life with greater clarity and resilience.
A dedicated lifelong learner, Katie has pursued her own personal growth, which led her to discover conscious connected breathwork. This transformative experience inspired her to train and become a certified Integrative Breathwork Facilitator, a journey that took her to Glastonbury, UK.
Outside of her professional life, Katie enjoys exploring nature, whether it’s hiking trails, camping, or relaxing on the beach with a good book. You might also find her dancing at a concert, practicing yoga, or road-tripping across Florida. An avid traveler and lover of new experiences, Katie embraces life with curiosity and a sense of adventure.
